Service Design Basics 1.0

In order to spread Service Design knowledge further, and help prepare the next generation of designers for the challenges of the service oriented world, the Service Design Network has launched a new series of workshops.

The first, Service Design Basics 1.0, introduces participants to the discipline: explaining the basics elements and processes, and putting various Service Design tools & methods into practice in a short project. This 12 hour activity is specifically intended for undergraduate students, who are new to the concept of Service Design and are curious to start exploring it.

Service Design Basics 1.0 introduces the foundations of Service Design, stimulating the students to perceive the broad presence of Services in our world and to make them aware of their importance.

Participants also explore concepts embedded in the discipline, such as co-creation, stake-holder assessmentss, benefits of the multidisciplinarity, and the importance of a user-centered approach. Furthermore, the workshop introduces a new perception on the dematerialisation of products, by doing so promoting innovation towards sustainability.

Service Design Basics 1.0 is indicated for undergraduate students with some foundation in Design, Marketing or Management. Students from different expertise are also invited to attend and multidisciplinary teams are highly recommended to enrich the teamwork and broaden the project’s outputs.
