Workshop 1: The Digital Ethics Compass - How do we design ethical technology?

The global reach of digital technologies, which enrich people’s lives with efficiency, services and distribution, has shown to have problematic side effects. Some companies and organizations have gradually come to understand that behaving ethically is a business-critical necessity and remain trust. More and more people demand that products and services create security and transparency for users. So, if we are to create a better, more fair, responsible and ethical digital world, we need to start with the design decisions that designers together with product managers and programmers make every single day.

During this masterclass Peter and Christina will discuss ethical dilemmas, what digital design ethics is, and introduce the essence of The Digital Ethics Compass, a practical toolbox that helps identify potential ethical dilemmas to improve digital products and services.

Workshop 2: Building the courage to slow down innovation

Accelerating, blitz scaling, failing fast to succeed sooner. These are just a few examples of a fundamental paradigm in innovation – that it has everything to do with a fast pace! As if somehow, speed is a goal in itself. In this workshop we want to reflect on the pace of innovation. Drawing on 10 years of experiences as innovation consultants at the Copenhagen based agency IS IT A BIRD, we have come to believe that a disproportionate focus on the high pace phases of innovation can obscure something else that is at least as important.

Slowing down the pace. Changing the energy. Focusing on being instead of doing, on observing, listening and sensing what is around us. At times we need to stand still in order to detect what is moving around us. The workshop will provide tools, methods and inspiration for bringning fruitful contemplation to you innovation process.

Touchpoint 15-3 Call for Papers deadline extended: “Designing from Within”

As the practice of service design continues to gain recognition and traction, a notable trend has emerged: organisations are choosing to build and utilise in-house service design teams rather than relying on external agencies. This shift brings with it a host of considerations, both positive and negative, that merit in-depth exploration and critical reflection.
